At Clever Little Monkeys we believe it important to work on life skills for a child. So to help with this Every month we do a word of the month. We will give our students examples of how they need to achieve our word of the month when they train with us but also in there everyday life and in school.At Clever Little Monkeys its not just about learning the skill of martial arts but also life skills.

The theme we’ve chosen for August is FOCUS

We define focus for our students as the ability to pay attention and listen attentively to coaches, parents, and teachers

We’ll spend the first week explaining to them what Focus is and why it’s important. I Sit my Students down and tell them how greater focus in life will help them learn easier and be better at anything they try.

The Second and Third Week we’ll spend coming up with examples together. We choose examples not only for when they train but also when there at home or in school. As opposed to me just giving them examples I will ask my students how they think that they can show Focus in and outside of the gym. This way they will learn easier and remember more. This will also help increase their confidence if they can come up with really good examples for the coach.

The Last week I do a recap of what we went through the previous weeks just to make sure they remember

Nathan gets his Yellow Belt

Congratulations to Nathan who got his yellow belt a few weeks ago after competing in his first submission wrestling tournament in UCD.

Nathan’s a tough little cookie, and can concentrate when he wants to (but most often choses not to concentrate )

He had a few matches against The Spartans, and did quite well.

Orange Belts

Both of these little critters bring a lot of fun and smiling to the class and are a pleasure to coach.
